A roosterA Poem by chhimijiksThe poem is an allegory. The rooster in the poem is compared to culture and tradition of a country.A Rooster At the start
of light And to begin
the night, You must have
heard him sing. Abruptly,
after the clap of his wings. He sings
polished and codified sound, Woven with
words of his pick He makes sure
every corner of the universe feels his song’s lick. He sincerely
sings to wake and lullaby his master, rubbing his gound. His songs
stand as the symbol of novelty Every word in
it is extravagant with authenticity.
From nowhere a
seductive foreign mistress passed by the coop Galloping on
a horse. Lured Master
willingly promised to stoop. The ruthless
Mistress devoured the murdered singer on the feasting table Yet beside
her stood the master without a tiniest remorse. The remains of
the feast, were thrown in the stable. At the start
of light And to begin
the night, You will
never hear him sing You will hear
the bell ring.
