I Am SpidermanA Poem by Cheyannainspired by Spiderman: Into the Spider-VerseI hadn't ever thought of myself as a superhero Simply I just enjoyed the concept Cool costumes Badass superpowers Saving the world That was until I saw Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse At one point the many versions of spidermen share what they have in common Death Of a loved one, their parent, best friend, uncle To have lost someone who was your world Puts you in a position to rethink what you are capable of What you can do in spite of this tragedy How can you make this world better despite yours crashing down? I saw myself I saw the day that I lost you The goals I have created The things I want to do in your memory Like the spidermen It sparked a different kind of light Where I was now forced to carry on To use all of your wisdom, knowledge, and strength passed on to me Perhaps the only positive thing That I can conceive of your death Was that now I can apply All you had hoped I would be Because you were my safety net And now I carry the web upon my fingers Thank you Love, Spiderman
