Escape

Escape

A Poem by Patrick McCombs

The whole place smelled like a damn hospital; sterile and white
And then I broke out of there in the middle of the night
And I felt utterly free
I didn't know what it meant to be me
But I was about to find out
I cast aside the shackles of self doubt
And I shall attack the world like a starving dog to a slab of meat
I jumped and I manage to land on my feet.

Great piece of work. It just grew bolder and bolder by the line. Poems of Declaration resonate well with me. You've got a good style to this piece.
