From My Mind to My Heart

wrote this so long ago after someone I knew was shot twice and killed. :/

To my mind you were always there. Important enough to notice but not important enough to stare. Always a joke. Always a line. You never thought you'd run out of time. So tall by nature words so blunt. Who would have thought it would stop like this. Who would have thunk. To my mind you were just the clown. One to laugh at and fool around. Your mind on your shoes your heart in the game. The most deserving of all the fame. To my mind, you were sometimes vacant. Not a real friend but I didn't expect this end. In my mind there is a plan. Woven by God with his own hand. I pray with my mind that you find safety. Cause in my heart, you will always be here. The clown in the classroom a foot tall above the rest. Someone who's always there. A warmth in our chest.
