I was surprised. The moment I finished reading this haiku, I shivered. It is wonderfully expressive and it touches something in me that makes me feel something unknown. Very lovely.
The picture perfectly compliments all that you wrote in this. I practically heard the call of the loon in my mind. Such a serene tone, I'm calm and sad at the same time after reading this.
Good luck in the True Talent contest, I'll announce the winners later today.

Having been born in MN, this familiar, haunting echo still remains one of my most soothing of memories ~ in addition to the drone of a high-flying small plane and the smell of freshly-cut grass. Oh, thank you so much for sharing, Damian. Wonderful accompanying photo. ;-)
nothing quite compares to the call of a loon. It's depressing and beautiful all at once. I enjoy a good haiku, and you've put a nice one together here. Kudos, my friend.
Damian Alan Gray is not an author, he is a writer. The difference being, of course, that an author's daily routine normally includes scheduling interviews with Oprah and book signings at Barnes and No.. more..
