All my friends were as excited as I was to play, staying up till midnight release day to delve into at exactly the same time. It was a new conversation topic, a point of unity within our lives we can coalesce around, bridging the social gap that's been made with a worldwide health crisis.

When we talk to each other while playing Animal Crossing, we don't wax nostalgic about the fantastic ol' days when we did not require a life simulation to hang out together. We simply chat excitedly about whose island has that animal folks occupying it, which fruits we all picked daily, or which fish we discovered swimming in the sea. Today on my island,

 I had been a lumberjack, collecting wood so that I could build myself a very adorable new bed. It is pink with a green bedspread. It took half an hour chopping in trees to gather of the materials, but I loved every second. Nothing else mattered except having a wonderful time doing it, and building this new bed that was cute.
