See Me

See Me

A Poem by Chelsea
"

Just how I feel about my parents.

"

I wish that you weren’t blinded

By this role in life I play

I wish that you could see

The person that I am

These messages I try to send

You don't seem to see

Do I have to flash them in your face

Or will you some day notice

Some may think I'm bitchy

I’m just depressed and in the dumps

I’m not angry at those around me

But the pain shows on my arms

I’m oblivious to the world

I’m so hurt I just stop caring

I believe that I'm a failure

Though I try to rise above

I fight my self inflicted ways

Because they are so wrong

I really don't hate everything

I only hate myself

I wish that you could see me

For who I am inside

I'm not a sight of horror

That you seem to think I am

Author's Note

Chelsea
I just really wish my parents could see who I am. I'm pretty depressed and stuff I wish they would pick up on it. I don't know what to do :/
The poem, in case you figured out....
A. What My parents say
B. The truth
A. What my parents say
B. The truth
The pattern to how I wrote each stanza, with exception of the first and last!

I believe we all go through this with our parents from time to time. Remember, alot of people don't understand creative people. Could it be that they fear for your well being if you pursue things? They don't often understand because things have changed so dramatically since they were kids... Your poems are fantastic and I loved this. I hope things get better and no need to be depressed, they will come around eventually!!!! Chin up! :-D

I'm sorry for your feelings of depression and loneliness. I can relate as my mother shut me out so much she actually doesn't even realize it. Sometimes you feel as though you are invisible.

If you can't talk to your parents, you need to talk to a school counselor or church counsefor...There is help out there..Even a school teacher who you feel that you could trust could get you connected to the right agency ...If there is a mental health facility in your area, go there and talk to them..Write about your feelings that will help you to work through some of them..When you put it down on paper, it helps to a different perspective on it..Sunflower

The poems message is straight to the point, which is like all your poetry....awesome! as for the structure of the poem, it may sound better and roll of the tongue better if there was a little bit of rythm. I have some suggestions if youre interested i can mail them to you. Either way, no matter what you do with it, i will say that it is raw emotion and even i have felt this way!!

Tough growing up. I have a few scars from it myself. This is a well-expressed piece. Sadness and anger drip from every line. But, mostly, just this nagging frustration that gnaws at the mind. Great poem.

Cheer up!

It is hard when people in general don't understand. I know there are many times I have been angry with my life and myself for making poor decisons and that affected my attitude. It was that i was mad at the whole world I was just so mad at myself that I was angry about everything.

What you went through with them is tragic, be glad it's behind you now.
