Howling Winds

Howling Winds

A Poem by Chelsea
"

A poem for my house & my beautiful property. Also a little thanks to the Lord

"

Howling Winds

The wind blows

Howling and whistling by my ears

The trees whip around, following its every move

The blades of golden grass dance around

The sun beats down on me,

In yellow and orange rays

Warming me from head to toe

I stretch my arms out

I lift them high

In an act of joy

To my Lord

My creator

I’m feeling as if I were taken by the wind

My feet firmly planted to the ground,

On my little piece of heaven.

I call home.

Author's Note

Chelsea
I live on 80 acres, 40 of it is a hayfield. So I wrote about the feeling of when I stand in the hayfield on a windy summer day! It’s beautiful! Please review. Also the picture, I took it!

You have reminded me of my childhood years, growing up in a rural area...I remember laying down in the middle of a field many times, surrounded by the waving grass or alfalfa...oh what beauty and peace...I felt at home with the earth. The windy days are the best for this experience, the wind allows the plants to speak and each makes their own unique combination of sound and movement.

All the creation shouts out it's praise, the beauty it holds, the sheer brilliance of design in everything we see. and your little piece of heaven is but a tiny part of his majesty

I like this. A sense of peace is what you get when you read this. I guess that was what you were getting at when you wrote it. I think you're a very talented poet and writer.

To be center of a field of hay and in the mist of nature. I know it would be a good day. A beautiful description of a good day. A wise person is thankful for the gifts we can hold and see. A excellent poem. Thank you.

Your poem has taken me back to my teens. I lived in a gate lodge of a large country estate on the edge of the New Forest. We had a moderate garden with a low fence which gave us a view accross the fields and the valley to the hills on the other side. I loved the winter sunsets, the abundant bird life that came to our garden and helping my dad with his bees. Thank you PoetGirl. you have reminded me of the better half of my youth.

This was a really good, calming, peaceful, pleasant, warming write! Brought back my days of growing up in Iowa. It's also fitting at the moment because the wind is howling outside my window at this moment!
