A Poem by Chelsea
"

All about those "magazines" with the girls with the perfect faces.

"

Magazines

Sit upon wire racks, you do

A beautiful face stares at me

Her face, without any flaws

Makes me look at mine

Full of flaws

This poem is dedicated to young girls or anybody who shares this opinion. I know how I feel when I look at all those magazines, worthless. I don’t feel like I’m worth anything when I see their flawless faces. But I know, that it’s all faked. They fake it using programs like Photoshop, etc. So they don’t actually look like that but still, I feel badly about the way I look.
Also I chose a picture of a model from the makeup company covergirl. Just showing how perfect they look!

very good work, and the truth is that beauty is but skin-deep, no? very wise words here, this was real good, i just loved this. how shallow can we get sometimes, forking out tens of thousands of dollars just to get a better face? how ridiculous. awesome work!

Yes. I was wanting to write a poem about this. I did, but this is so powerful. Teenage girls, especially, but really anyone who looks down on themselves because someone "loooks flawless" on a magazine cover. i like seeing the pictures of the stars without the airbrush and all that. and really they dont any differnt from a normal mother or daughter or father or son on the streets of NYC.

I love the poem. I agree that the whole magazine thing. However it is also the cosmetic and toy industry that has created this particular monster! When will people realise that those who go by looks alone are as shallow as Gaston and the maids in Disney's Beauty and the Beast!

another good simple poem. i completely agree with you about magazines, its why i dont buy them! it would be nice to see this evolve a little. it is a subject that one get get very passionate about, and i think your onto something with it! although it is a good write on its own!
