Ride of a Lifetime

Ride of a Lifetime

A Poem by Chelsea
"

Pedal stroke at a time. Endless, the race seems. Yet, I succeed.

"

Ride of a Lifetime

My first pedal strokes

Frantic, in hopes of staying seated

Ground, I did cover

A few feet of  endless joy

Yet, I do fall

Scraping my elbows, bloody mess

Hopes fallen,

I get back on

The saddle,

And ride on,

On……

& on……

Until I get going.

Nice little poem. So true of life in general too. We have been teaching our Grandaughter to ride her bike recently so it is fresh in my memory. I completely agree with T. J. Blackbern. He has some good advice. Also take a look at his work, it is very good.

Excellent, I rode the bike with you. I fell with you. I felt the sting in my knees. Thank you for the inspiring piece. Life goes on, hopefully.

well, it also told a story about a real life mainly about determination on not giving up...:)...which a lot easier to say than done :P

My favorite line is "A few feet of endless joy" This is a memory most of us share, but few take the time to remember. Thanks

Wow this I'm sure evokes such nostalgia in everybody. As I read this I felt like I was sent back in time to the very first time I tried to ride a bike without training wheels. Such a powerful piece you have written here. Sweet!

I love riding too, so this is way cool to me! The real cool thing is the metaphor of the freedom and beauty in movement the bike provides...

A beautiful photo and a amazing poem. Life is learning. Most lessons come with a few bruises and disappointments. I like the story and the positive ending. A outstanding poem.

this is a lovely write. bings bake memoris of my childhood and learning to ride a bike myself. but also a good analogy for life. we tumble and fall and 'scrape our elbows' making a 'bloody mess' but we have to get up, brush ourselfs down and get back on! keep going! well done! good write!
