Mist

Mist

Just a bit of a differnt perspective on mist.

Mist

I stare at a snapshot

Taken in black and white

Mist billows upon the sidewalks

It haunts me slightly

As it feels like a failed hope

The promise of light, and hope for its reign

All forgotten, smothered by the mist

Mist billows upon the sidewalks

Scuffing peoples shiny shoes

The shine once fighting, but then giving up

Giving into the dark greedy mist

Mist billows upon the sidewalks

Concealing the sight of a sleeping homeless man

No food, no water, no shelter, he’s all alone

Yet pedestrians continue on as if there was no sight to be seen

Mist billows upon the sidewalks

The bald trees that line the sidewalk

Is a sad sight, as their barren branches are exposed

Outlined by the swirling mist the blackness stands out

It reminds me of the hairless sufferers of cancer disease

Mist billows upon the sidewalks

Giving me and eerie sensation

Why so?

This is a really powerful and emotive poem. It takes a lot to bring tears to my eyes and this poem has done just that! Your decsriptive narrative set the scene and then when the homeless man was introduced it was too much for me. Following it with the barren branches and the comparison with cancer carried and prepared me for your poignant question "Why so?"

This poem reminds me of a creepy dream or a creepy scene in a movie. The details are stunning but the flow is off here and there.

very nice, what a very good take on something so apparently mundane! what a great poem you have here! i love the part about mist shrouding the homeless man, i guess that's a great reference to those just left behind in society. nice work!!

That's a lot of perspective for a mist...

I love the mystery and the romance of the mist. Gives me a chance to dream a million haunting and gripping melancholy dreams. Loved your poem.

I love it, I agree that mist is spooky :) I find it sort of intruiging yet scary as well. It evokes so much emotion from so many people that is hard to write about it, but you managed to bring all those emotions into a wonderful write.
