War

War

A Poem by Chelsea
"

A poem about war.

War

Pick us apart, piece by piece

Examine it carefully; we are all people

People with an evil tendency,

A little argument followed by an all out battle?

Why can’t it be solved over a civil cup of tea?

Children flee for their lives;

Fight the gasmasks forced onto them

Woman hidden away;

Live in fear of the horrors coming

Men and boys are destined to fight,

No choice, no say

They unwillingly give their lives to an unworthy cause

One man down, a million to go

Both sides crying from the loss,

Eternally emotionally shattered

But no, this is not enough to stop war

Blood soaked grounds,

Stepping over bodies of your country and those that aren’t

Deafening sounds of explosions followed by the screams of pain

Taking lives that aren’t yours to take,

Playing a “kill for kill “game

Can’t anybody see the child like reality?

I was watching a Remembrance Day special yesterday and this poem was my thoughts on it. I have always hated war and I feel strongly it doesn’t solve a thing. I think this poem is true to that and I hope you find meaning! Please review!

Childish, indeed. It's frustrating, sometimes, when people feel the need to surpass others instead of coextisting and compromising. This goes for every kind of war, whether it ends with blood or the damaged feelings of another person. Men and woman release bombs from their planes, politicians empty their lungs toward alternate perspectives, humans degrade other humans.. for what purpose? Surely none of this is worth the lives of millions of people or the screaming, and yet the ones who have the ability to rise higher than this violence only raise themselves by standing on the tips of their toes, rather than putting in the effort to climb out of this hole we've all made for ourselves. I've seen better behavior from a brother and sister with an odd number of toys in a sandbox.

anyway. sorry for the rant.
great poem. :)

Yeah true. Wars do get ridiculous sometimes when someone thinks it's a good idea to go round bombing the place killing innocent people. All armies around the world do it. I wish they didn't.

No, they can't. They're blind, as are those that insight the wars. Great write, done with dedicated skill. Excellent points made here

You are absolutely right. And i thank you for writing this. You could write a billions of poems and yet it wont be enough. People dying with out a cause. without a rhyme or reason. Yes this damned "game" has no sense. I liked the line One down and a million to go. Good Job here. Keep going.....
