Longing

Longing

A Poem by chelie

This girl looking in the mirror
How sad her eyes are,
They look with longing
With such uncertainty,
Longing to one day be accepted,
She tries to count the days,
Every day a knife in her chest,
As she looks back on her life
The life she has been at war with,
An internal battle going on,
For as long as she remembers
This doubt and longing
Has been there,
She can't see what people see,
Why do people call her pretty
When she looks at herself
All she can see is an ugly girl,
Why do people call her sweet,
When for as long as she remembers
She has been upset and bitter,
When a boy says he loves her
She cannot see a loveable girl,
Everyone calls her smart
But she feels so dumb,
She tries to hide,
To get away,
But she is always exposed,
Can always hear the
Impending laughter,
She wants to curl into a ball
To just disepear, and leave,
But something is grounding her,
She is stuck in one spot
She cannot get away,
She tries to cry out,
But she realizes
No one will hear her,
Her insides trying to bust out,
Her heart just one big scar,
How could anyone see beauty
When all that's left of a girl
Is a cold hollow shell,
Why can someone love her
When all that's left
Is the heartless fool,
Her poor choices have
Given her nothing,
She doesn't realize
How beautiful she is,
She has no clue
How the rest of the world,
The world beyond the tormentors is,
She has no clue how the ones
The ones who love her could,
She feels like the most unloveable,
The hollowest, and most bitter person,
She feels exposed in a cruel world,
She does not feel safe,
She feels the uncertainty,
The doubt is peircing,
She wishes more than once,
She wishes to emerge finally,
To find the one person
The person to get her,
That is all she wants
Her one wish,
Not to be a beauty,
Not to be loveable,
But for someone
To look inside,
To finally see the hurt,
That is her life's dream,
The one wish at Christmas,
At birthdays,
And just any day,
She begs and pleads,
Wishing and wishing,
But so far no one,
People tell her of prince charming,
She sits and waits,
She feels like CInderella
Without the magic,
Sitting always waiting and hoping,
This girl looking in the mirror,
How sad her eyes are

I really like this. It's very sad, and deep. I also always admire people who can write such long poems.
