The Deceit

The Deceit

A Poem by chaireinferrascalayca

Good day, guiltless lover!

I hope life’s treating you kind.

Those mellifluous words

That faultless face…

You certainly deserve the best.

But wait! Do remember

Having the best doesn’t mean

Having two or three at a time

And courting the other

While the other serves as spare tire.

Play your game clean

And you’ll get what you rightfully deserve.

Pull on the strings

If ever you need help

But when you get to the surface,

Pick one raft to keep you alive.
