A Cigarette Graveyard

A Cigarette Graveyard

A Poem by checkianout

An exercise in self restraint
To slip back into the bargaining stage
The stages of grief occurring at once
It's been months since we spoke
To suffer along a linear slope
Is it too much to ask?
Perhaps
The union we helplessly witness corrode
Is now a resemblance of rust
On my car where we sat
An exchange of laughs
An admission;
Your allergic reactions to cats
You gave me life
I gave you spite
But I gave what I could
Under the circumstances
You were misunderstood
On occasion mistreated
But never misled
& Now
I just miss you

Your poems are always so heartbreakingly beautiful. It's always bittersweet to read your writing. On one hand it's endlessly beautiful and wonderful to read. On the other hand it's so full of those heartbreaking feelings. But I'm so glad I get to read all of it.
