In The Unlikely Event of Your Return

In The Unlikely Event of Your Return

A Poem by checkianout

I would grow thicker skin to absorb your abuse
Like those frat boys you choose to romanticize
Or perhaps cut my hair to the length you prefer
I would trade these tattoos for your parents approval

The laser removal is taxing
But so is this void.

I need your validation
I need to be your big strong boy but all I'll ever be is your fragile little b***h

Let's discuss our mistakes over coffee

A disgusting display

WOW! I love the gut-level honesty of this piece! So many of the things you bring up are familiar, but the way you've put it all together, it's surprising & fresh, too. I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE when writers use specific examples as you've done here. Very good job of showing us, rather than telling us. Being born in a very different era, it's a vivid glimpse into how things are for younger people these days.
