AftermathA Poem by chea
The war had ended
And the bugles had blown The soldiers had left And the land was empty There stood the solitary soul Searching for the shambled pieces The cries were piercing Unheard and unloud The hunger was blinding The smoke had covered The blue skies gray And the moment passes by Leaving behind the shadows of eternal truth There were the whimpers and the whispers Of my crushed up hopes and dreams The path taken and the promises made Betraying the life that I had once lived And now when the soldier marches by And the solitary soul gazes on There was a just a lost glimpse That was given in the stolen moment in between Smiling that inane smile And asking those million questions Don't you think I know you Don't you think I understood the pain Don't you think I see the world Through your lonely eyes That has known the love lost. Unable to move, unable to speak Nothing to hold on, nothing to lose Solitary the soul is Sorrowfully it gazes on. © 2013 chea |
