Empty Belly

Empty Belly

A Poem by rcat

cold
wet
scared
tired
grease
filth
stink
paper cup
a few coins
defeat
self-loathing
empty stomach

polished shoes
warm coat
fat wallet
it's greasy
it's filthy
it's stinky
the shame
apathy
disgusting
avoid eye contact

shabby coat
depression
no work
pathetic
he's greasy
he's filthy
he's stinky
he's lonely
that might be her
the search of a purse
last five dollars
a sandwich
a coffee
a warm belly

a shabby coat
satisfaction
an empty belly

This actually reflects my own situation. I'm on disability and only one step away from the streets myself. But help I will if I can. I've gone without so someone who has nothing gets a peice of something. It matters.

About
I've admittedly never written before coming here. I just find myself now with the time - and plenty of experiences. Writing only seemed the right thing to do. Thankyou dear boy friend for encouraging .. more..
