![]() They Never CameA Poem by C. Lee Battaglia![]() I was just experimenting how I felt at the time![]() They Never Came C. Lee Battaglia It was raining. The sky was black as coal. They said they would come. I am sitting alone at the table getting soaked by the rain. I don't even notice though because after all they said they would come. I don’t see anyone. Alone on this dreadful day. Because after all they said they would come. My sister and husband gone, But they said they would come. I sat and sat, but they never came. My blood cold as Ice. My tears, warm on my cheeks. The thoughts going threw my head were, ‘They said they would come.’ They are someplace else, Far, far away. But I yell, “They said they would come!” Because after all, they never came. © 2014 C. Lee BattagliaAuthor's Note
