The mask of your love

The mask of your love

A Poem by charmel

You smiled at me, but that smile was for her

You held my hand, thinking it was hers

You kissed my lips as though I was she

You hugged me wishing it was her body

You told me, “I love you”, but it was really for her

You said, “I missed you”, but you’re thinking of her

You said you want to be with me forever

But she’s really whom you want

Your eyes are being sincere

But your heart told me lies.

Wow! This is a sad truth of the pain we risk in a relationship. I admire you putting words to the recognition of misplaced affection. I think we all experience it in our lives. Great poem.

Thank you. :) Yeah, it's sad how we love someone truly but we just end up being fooled.
