Comfort Slumbers

Comfort Slumbers

A Poem by Timewilltell

Awakening from a preferred reality
Head cocked to the right to see if the moon has slipped back into its shadowed state
Vision lost of focus became clear and feet that are at rest become once again activated to steer
A bit of pacing begins, racing to get a start to an already dreadful day
It’s time to add a new memory to a timeline that is already filled with consistent stains

Here I am again
Walking through the doors enriched with blood red and safety
Hastily passing parents by
Should I stop for a minute, a beat to say hi?
I am obviously not that kind of guy
I’d rather don a pair of headphones
Have retinas encased with x-ray vision
Mouth sewn shut than have to spill words
Am I anti-social? a psychopath? a fool?
Void of feeling and impersonal too?
The decision is clearly up to you
Having a true say to anything was what I was begotten not to do

Slow chattering in the distance starts to grow louder with each step to be made
I suppose I’ll just ignore it and quickly turn away
Catch your breath and whisper it is ok
Tomorrow you can start a new, fresh for the next promising day

I'll arrive home and go straight to my room
filled with momentary bliss
aiding me in the survival of my fading interest
it's time to lay to rest again with a slight grin
Waiting to find the skin I shed before daylight had to finally begin

About
Made this when I was in high school. Probably when I was a sophomore. 23 now, life has changed but all in all I'm almost the same. Just a bit of wear and tear but I promise! I'm worth the purchase...n.. more..
