Sine Qua Non

Sine Qua Non

A Poem by Charles
"

worth the wait...

"
Like the air that
breathes life into my spirit,
you inspire the parts that soar.
Be they cooling breezes
or fearsome torrents,
I ride the winds
to my most desired destinations.
Clear waters quench
and replenish my body,
the body that moves
to the intent of your will.
I can float on the waves
or be at rest in its depths
and know true peace.
The quiet earthen soil
holds the secrets
of my soul's growth
and you are it's seed.
You reach to the heavens
and bloom the fruit
that sustains my hopes.
Your light warms me
as does the sun,
and like the sun
you show me things
as they are.
And when my mind
is in need of rest,
my dreams are full
of the visions of things
as they could be.
You are something indispensable...
something essential.
You are simply something
that I cannot do without.

Airy, natural and wonderful, I enjoyed the elemental hymns to nature and Mother Earth in this.

A moving piece and with each word I felt myself flow within it. Its funny how people have a way of moving you to write with such longing, and how words can capture emotions just right depending upon who is doing the writing. We all feel our emotions differently, yet the same in which case we can all relate on different levels. Moving images that flow like water between fingers, soft and delicate yet powerful with emotion. Magnificent work here.

Byron couldn't have said it better

When you look for it, there is nothing to see.
When you listen for it, there is nothing to hear.
When you use it, it is inexhaustible.
-Lao-Tzu, Tao Te Ching XXXV

I like how you give words to the great "what is" that is both inexplicable and what poets devote themselves to explaining. And great sustained use of metaphor.

Yes, indeed, and by its power could all be so blessed if they'd permit. In the past, we said a person had genius, not was genius, treating it more like a relationship that requires nurturing than a possession. You have clearly developed yours quite wonderfully.
