Afreshed Fields

Afreshed Fields

A Poem by Charles

What I once had in mind
went to play in an open field.
It danced with the butterflies
and ran free over the hills.
It stopped to smell wildflowers
and hide in the tall grass.
I called for it to return
but it felt at home,
as it looked out at the horizon.
I tried to bring it to mind,
the thought that had my sway,
but it became an open field
gazing at the horizon...
