More Than a Broken Heart

More Than a Broken Heart

A Poem by Charles
"

Love lost is re-found.

"

More than a Broken Heart

When last I saw you
through eyes dimmed with wine,
heartbroken with news
you'd never be mine,
I swore to myself
if I could be free
of pain from parting
of you torn from me,
I'd never be weak
under love's spell
that brought me again
to the brink of hell.
I thought I had known
what tormenting weight
bore down on the fool
who challenged his fate.
I was very wrong;
It is so much worse.
From experience I learned,
chapter and verse.

Beautifully written. The flow, the imagery, the emotion, it all works so well together to convey a sorrowful tone of loss and heartbreak. Nice job!
