"

paint my freckles in stardust, that I may fall for anything

"

Let us say the world is not impaled on a spike.

That, instead, we are drifting free and limitless

among the stars which are our truest home and truest selves,

and tra-la-la we go a rovin’ into the everything of what is...

Let us say there is peace there, and peace: the highest virtue

for which mankind may aspire, for it transcends the confines

of those ideas as good and evil, right and wrong, love and hate:

for they are illusory and they are not real. Aspiration itself

be an arresting phantom, for it denotes desire, and desire by nature

opposes peace. Therefore, let us say that we speak

with the clearest voice of reason when encouraging the lost,

the hopeless, the hopeful and the dreaming: “be”...

Let us say there is no meaning which at all is absolute.

That of purpose; there is none - and belief in anything

is not an anchor, but a bullet which the blind and the fretful

ride to a grave. Let us say there is no heaven, and sure as hell

there aint no hell. And hate is love inverted, but love is nihilistic

and that would be a some-thing which fits around a no-thing,

so let us say it best with “be”... And let us ask to be believed,

that our words should be received as kind service to that

which we denounce as not real, but illusory. And let us say;

no matter how it looks, there is no “be” in any belief,

but if you feel for certain that somehow your mind is hurtin’

and you believe you are confused by now, then so may you “be” ...

Why is just being a rather satiric idea for you? I think it's the reason you're here. You just are. But so many of us think we must serve someone or thing in one way or another to live a (satisfactory) life. It'd be a nice poem, consisting of so many loveable lines if (only) they were meant serious not satiric.

Ok. Thank you for your insightful response. You're welcome.
Let us say that I am kinda fond of this poem. The narrator is my hero in satirical sarcasm. There are a few times that I wanted to just "be". I usually woke up feeling like a piece of gum under someones shoe. CD

Yep - unfortunately that can happen, also... Thanks for taking some time here, C
I absolutely loved this poem! I feel like you would be a wonderful person to have deep intellectual conversation with; this poem was very thought provoking, and funny enough it kind of dealt with the same issues that my poem, "Ambiguity", which you reviewed, did. So no wonder I liked it! :)

Hi again, Sami. Thanks for taking the time over my way :)
to just "be" ... allow your soul to flop around in an existential indifference - is some of the most careless advice I've ever heard dispensed. It is void.

But I do appreciate you taking time here, Jacob. Thank you.

there is much to "be" said about that word...it is part of many others, and it is also something on its own...

just believe--that it is best just to be...no expectations---just acceptance of life and "be" -ing in it...a part of it...

You can find that in the piece... I should've tagged it satire, perhaps.
