Harvest

Harvest

A Poem by charlie

“by gee! you make that look easy, fella”

and i just rolled out a goofy grin, all glad

for the grazes and new rasorial arms.

a perfect day on howeths road

we come to help a neighbour bring in hay

‘fore bringing out beer…         high up

on a saturday, with blue tipped wrens fidgeting

on fence posts with wire drooping…

the old men jostle insults coz they love each other -

in the bristled way that brothers do -

and they sweat in the sun and say:

“by gee! that breeze is good” when the breeze

lifts up and we are shin deep in stubble

with the clover pushing up and me, the young pup

thinking: “gee! you make it look easy, fellas…”

Oh..oh! Mr. Frost is pissed...lol. Or better still, very proud, as he, among the wrens are hovering over with the lightness of way he use to lay a line down and then just wait ...many misinterpreting his intent. "good fences"..right.
And with every animal, myself included, seeing it from their own abilities, prejudiced by arms, want, age, teeth or whatever, scratching at that mountain that has already been said/written..."wondering how you make it look so easy".

" the old men jostle insults coz they love each other -
in the bristled way that brothers do " and " we are shin deep in stubble with the
clover pushing up and me,.."

Loved these lines, as I did the whole but these just seem to swing for the green without effort for me. Fine art indeed. Thanks charlie~

this is so rural to me, the old men rebuke each other in the only way they know how to communicate yet they truly understand, you have touched on something her.

Love the hilarity within this bit of simplicity.
