Mom

Mom

A Poem by essie

I would love to be close to you.
Tell you every little detail.
Have a bond with you.
I am your daughter.
You are my mother.
I hope to be your best friend, but it is hard.
I watch her speak to you like she is your own blood.
I get jealous of her, she isn’t “family” but it bothers me
I can’t tell you about my life.
If youre wondering how i am doing i am hanging in there.
Every bit of it, is a step closer to feeling better.
I wish I could tell you, but vulnerability isn’t my skill set.

I am very sympathetic to this piece because I find it very relatable as well as heartbreaking. When art elicits emotional response from the reader as a writer you can't ask for anything more to reflect its value then that. Wonderful work Essie. Thank you for sharing this poem.
