Shut Out

Shut Out

A Poem by Brian Custer

Shut Out

Brian Custer

I loved her

when I thought

I shouldn't anymore

But she moved me

about in swirling circles

When I fell, she would

pick me back up again

I thought I would

lay dormant

the feeling (inner pinned)

Against my will,

no feeling should find its end

Rationally romanticizing

sometime

the other side will begin

Because she moves me,

and I just can't

get rid of this

bliss

Even the times I thought

(I just might cry)

It was those feelings;

saddened despair

I said goodbye

I shut the door

on the lonely hopelessness

deciding instead to let

 takeover

this infinite happiness

No matter how

no matter when

the circle begins

(to find its end)
