Inevitably

Inevitably

A Poem by Brian Custer

 Inevitably

Brian Custer

The times are certainly near for

the fomenting angst and despair

driving this madness of our

consumerist world of gluttony

to finally over boil and sear

the harness from the tangles

of the crossbred sheep.

Together in the madness,

the sheep will peruse the streets

in disbelief, finally reading

between the lines (they were corralled -

deftly inconspicuous of skepticism)

pragmatically inclined to change

the shepherd and find some solace.

I really like this very powerful and direct...this world is coming to an end as we know it and only we can take charge of our own destiny and help those in need... I really like this part... "they were corralled - deftly inconspicuous of skepticism) pragmatically inclined to change"

Good way to play with metaphor in the second stanza... the sheep analogy, while not new, is apt.
