Millennium

Millennium

A Poem by Jessica Lynn Polley

I do not know what I was expecting...
I don't know why I was so surprised,
I knew exactly what was coming...
I could see it your eyes.

I hope my heart was worth breaking
I hope you got what you were looking for
Because I got nothing from this
unless you can count being more broken than I was before.

I was trying to hold on
But I had to let it go...
There is something dark inside of me
and I just had to let you know.

story told a thousand times
over the span of hundreds of years
I have lived lives of wars and battles
Filled with blood hate and tears

Everyone wants to be more than themselves
I can feel all that I was before this life...
The recognition of this pain is overwhelming
as I have known far before this night.

When something is new,
it should not feel old...
I have spoken these words before
while a different story was being told.

Do you believe if forever?
Have you sifted the sands of time?
Have you tasted centuries???
Have you held millennium in you mind?

I have fought this repetitious battles
I hope this will be my last...
A chance to reborn again...
well I would surely pass.
