When angels dieA Poem by Jessica Lynn Polley
With wings of silver and eyes of gold...
she remembers a story never told. A time of darkness and tainted blood, the twisted images almost to much. The time since then almost 10,000 years Her heart alone still knows true fear. From beneath her feet the ground shakes the things she hears she could not mistake. She can feel it in her bones they ache... from beneath her feet the ground it breaks. A fire erupts and touches the sky... a beast rises darker than night. With bloody teeth and pits for eyes, he greets her with a familiar smile. At his feet an army awaits... millions of monsters craving a taste. They sniff the air and snap there jaws, screaming nightmares all twelve feet tall. The earth trembles beneath their weight... here to deliver a destined fate. With a deep breath she stands her ground knowing withing seconds she will be run down. The honor seems thin for a creature so old... the memories flash as it all unfolds... and she is not sure why she should die for you, what value do you have after all she has gone through... Is she not the better of these two creatures? She could still take flight he would never reach her... Instead she stands between us and our fate, fighting off monsters until her wings start to ache... they beg of her take to the sky! These beasts are strong but they can not fly... and now people watch as the angel bleeds, shocked to silence at what they see. and now people cry as an angels dies... all but able to save there lives.
