Broken man

Broken man

A Poem by Jessica Lynn Polley

Something calls to the broken man,
to be free like me.
Something all to enticing
to be broken like he.
He never was a sharp man
never one to see the lies
until he is knee deep in madness
of the most crippling kind.
Someone tried to save the broken man,
but only ended that way to...
So know that just around the corner
there is someone broken just like you.
When trying is not good enough,
and failing is all you know...
just think about the broken man,
and try to let it go.
mirror image of perfection
is a silly goal to try and reach.
broken mirror you are
broken like him and me.
Did I say that I was free?
Sometimes my mind plays tricks...
Because I am still wading through the lies
and I did not ask for any of this.
Blame this world for being broken
Scattered peaces of one reflection.
Blame this world for being less,
than what you were expecting.
Because no one blames themselves,
that is just to hard...
To believe that we could possibly have been the problem...
from the very start.
Marinade your rejection,
of the truth that is just to heavy...
Let the lies fill the cracks,
because there are just so many.
Let less be good enough...
let the broken man be your projection
of a world where happiness
is just as fake as perfection.
Let me relate to you...
in a way that never should be.
Let me break just a little...
my thoughts so deep inside of me.
It hurts me to say these words
I never wanted any of them to be true...
But being broken is maddening.
Broken like him...me...and you
