Freedom

Freedom

A Poem by Steven Cash

Freedom

It’s what we fight for

What we die for

What this nation was built upon

The constitution was framed by it

All we are we owe to freedom

But freedom doesn’t exist

Not really

Freedom is just a bigger cage

Think about it

We live in this land of the free

Land of Freedom

But you still cannot speak your mind like you want

You still can’t worship the God you want

Love who you want

And even if you could, there would still be restrictions of some sort

Think about it

Freedom

Just a bigger cage

this is one of those poems that make me think. so - steve - do you feel that we should all have freedom of speech. do you feel if i decide to yell fire in a movie theater - and i get arrested or watever - i can protect my self by using the first amendment as a shield? in what way can't we worship the god we want - again first amendment. and when u say we can't love who we want - r u saying society puts restrictions on that? id like to hear your opinion. this poem is awesome and really made me take a few minutes and think. nice job - if i were u i would consider this a success :)

yes true
That's very, very good. Freedom is never free, and even if we did have an absolute anarchy in this nation, we're still a slave to the consequences of all our actions--that's the truly ironic part

Glad you do Tasha
The human brain, spirit, is made up of walls and boundries and mental blockages. It's in our nature really. No matter how open minded a person is in comparison, they're still there. So as long as the world's ruled by humans, there's always a cage. The best we can do is try and expand it. That's what writters and other artists are for.

yep yep
Our freedoms are slowly being taken from us in every day life, but we can all live free in the mind as well as on the blank piece of paper that sits in front of us writers.

No probs
True. Very true. I've heard people say that there is no freedom at all.

Nicely constructed. 100/100
