She's No Longer With You

Moral: Break-ups are hard, especially when it is your fault. But life is still worth living.

You roll over in bed and open your eyes

The empty space beside you makes you realize

She’s no longer with you

You get to the sink and begin to comb your hair

And notice there’s no beautiful song in the air

Cause she’s no longer with you

 

Every time you get a break on your job

You want to call home, but instead you sob

She’s no longer with you

Now your lunch is one on your own

She’s not going to have lunch waiting at home

Cause she’s no longer with you

 

You swear at yourself, wishing you’d not yelled

Wishing you could take back the time, cause you can tell

She’s no longer with you

Why’d you fight? It was so benign

All she did was talk to a guy

And she’s no longer with you

 

Your temper was hot, and now you regret

The thing you did, and the things you said

Cause she’s no longer with you

Now you stand above the streets

People ask you not to do the deed

But she’s no longer with you

 

And because she’s no longer with you

There is no reason to live

Or is there?

I got as far as the first two lines and scrolled down quickly! Some poems are too raw for me at moment. My heartbreak is still fresh. That shows the emotional power of poetry though doesnt it? That only two lines upset me.

I think if i had kept on reading I would of had a tear in my eye.

I really like this,Steven! I know how it feels to lose someone that you truly loved, and waking up every morning wishing to take your last breath. I felt like that for awhile on my most recent break-up. It was a harsh break-up--he did it over text message. I personally think that's the most immature and all-time low way to break up with a person. Especially with a girl such as myself that's so sensitive and has had her heart broken many times before. Though, I haven't lost someone from it being my fault. It seems from your poem that it's not your fault either, just saying. You done an excellent job with expressing your emotions from heartache! :D

Haha, it's okay! I think it's great when a person is blunt about their feelings on certain things :) don't have to be sorry about that. I actually called him to confirm the break-up. Atleast, I did something more mature about it! To talk over the phone is better than over text somehow. Haha. He is actually younger than me by a year :) so yeah he's immature.

What a painful and raw poem filled with very clear pain and suffering. The relasation that something once loved and cherished has departed and wll not return is a devestating blow to the heart, even more so when the heart knows thhey left because it was there fault and they honestly feel they were to blame.
A tremendously powerful piece that i greatly enjoyed reading
