Mirror mirror

Mirror mirror

A Poem by Champagne
"

Fantasy or reality?

"
"Mirror, mirror, on the wall
who's the saddest of us all?"

asking, she winked
at her own reflection
turned, and was

gone. Her image on the glass
stayed, for a minute or so
sighed, and disintegrated into dust

and dust.  And she smiled once more
with a lousy puff
blew it all away. The lonely

cat, in the hallway, pawed the
mirror, greedy stabs of feline misery
scratched the smooth glass, saw

it's own reflection, and sighed
too. No two cats are the
same. She picks up the furry

ball, and smashes the oblong glass
one swift blow, and it's gone, while
she and the cat, look at the empty space

and ask
mirror mirror, on the wall
which one is the saddest of all?

Author's Note

Champagne
It's been a while. It's more writer's block than lack of time. Just didn't feel the inspiration in the last few weeks. Apologies to my friends here. I have a pile of RRs that I have just started going through. Hope to write more regularly.

you created a really interesting image in my mind..the mirror is such an great concept for a poem..seeking the answers from the person staring back as if you could be the reflection of them...

"greedy stabs of feline misery
scratched the smooth glass" - it's funny i should read this only 5 minutes after my own cat was analyzing itself in the mirror...
the concept of the mirror answering our question is a very interesting one - personally i love it because when you ask the mirror a question, you actually ask yourself, and the answer has to come from what you see in the mirror - yourself...
