PerfectA Poem by chaireneInspired by Ed Sheeran's "Perfect"
It was once a puppy love
She was five He was six Not knowing what destiny brings They were teenagers When one must bid farewell Farewell with sweet words and promises A farewell sealed with a kiss He promised, he will return She promised, there'll be no one else But a promise is just a shattered glass Goodbye is something deeper. They were grown ups when he returned A promise yet to be fulfilled. They were stuck in a lovers cave Where they came to be when they were young. The rain pours hard Like their feelings that remain untold He really wanted to dance with her But there was no music to dance to He asked her to close her eyes She obliged and he did the same He placed her hands on his shoulders and his hands on her waist Together, they'll sing what song does their heart desire. 'Cause we were just kids When we fell in love Not knowing what it was I will not give you up this time So darling just kiss me slow Your heart is all I own And in your eyes your holding mine They were taken aback For they sang the same song One thing's for sure Nothing can stop their heart's desire As they were about To close the gap between them, He closed his eyes Once he opened them, she was gone. She was gone like the wind. Her feelings too. Everything became complicated Unlike the love they had when they were young. Yes, it was only a dream Made by his heart longing for her In his dream they were dancing, Dancing with equal fervor. He went back to the cave Hoping she'll be there But it seems like destiny gave up, Destiny grew tired of their story. The rain fell hard once more. He was standing all alone, Not knowing what to do. His eyes were swimming in his unshed tears. Destiny was known for being playful. Destiny, was the best cupid. Destiny, may grow tired, But destiny, it never fails. He was shivering due to the cold weather Alone in the cave. Until he saw a familiar face his heart longed for, smiling at him. She looked perfect. © 2017 chairene |
