The Last DanceA Poem by chaireneInspired by the song Thinking Out Loud by Ed SheeranIt was the same old song, same old steps, same old feelings, the same old love Every step I take, You slowly drift away Every breath I take, You slowly fade away Eyes locked on yours, fingers intertwined foreheads touching, Hearts beating in sync We danced like there's no tomorrow, Like tomorrow's the end The end of everything we had, The end of this dance True enough, everything ended. Every step, Every dip, Everything. Now, I see you, dancing Looking so carefree. In your face, I see nothing Not even a hint of pain I thought I was the only one, the only person you'll dance with But it seems like, I was wrong Between your arms, I see someone new, maybe someone better Someone who's definitely not me Wish I could turn back time, where I was the only one The only one in between your arms, The only one in your heart. Maybe I was wishing on someone else's star Maybe it was her star I wished upon, That she ended up with you, While here I am, broken, reminiscing our last dance.
