No Color

A Poem by Chadvonswan

A leaf falls far
from the tree
The splotched scars
Of time sail south
The grass consumes
A collection is gathered
Of spawns
And leaves
the sun
Winks
At dawn
The leaves whisper
Silent secrets
That scratch upon the
Wind like little
Ghosts
To tap on your window
As you sleep
In your head
And fall
Like a leaf
Into another plane
Of waxed
Existence
Waning and blinking
In the sky
Teasing
Spitting
Lies around like seeds
And dreaming of things left forgotten
In the morning
I wake
To find a million leaves
Piled around me
Spawned upon my bed
spilled
Out of the mouth
Of the open window

The structure of this poem admittedly, at first, looked slightly disconcerting. Scattered & almost naive - yet upon reading it out loud to myself I felt as though your words were born of my own tongue; spoken in such a thoughtful way that it seems almost a soliloquy of one's own reading - which is made possible through the structure you used. The mixture of abstract & concrete nouns; along with the poem's ability to almost add person to words I find very emotionally evocative.
The third & fourth lines I absolutely love; your description in 'sailing south' I just find so effective.
Well done man; absolutely love this!

I really appreciate this thorough review kind sir! Thanks for reading!
What a dream like poem. Whimsical while still retaining a serious mood. I loved the stanza "And dreaming of things left forgotten." This reminds me of Walt Whitman. I usually don't like non-rhyming poems, but one's so emotional like this one, really impress me. Wonderful job.
