The Downfall of the Phone

The Downfall of the Phone

A Poem by Chadvonswan
"

F**k cell phones

"
Why must there be phones?
I trust you know
I just want to be left alone
Phones are meaningless
They distract, and
cause her to piss and moan,
Saying,
You never text back
You never call back
Well,
I say,
You never smile back
You never laugh back
at the jokes I say
The compliments I breathe
to you
in person
Face to face
That has all been replaced
We lack physicality
Substituted with a bullshit reality
We carry our friends in or pockets now
While some just want to be
left alone
Leave me alone,
I don't want to hear the
vibrations
the ring ring ring ring ring
the buzz buzz f*****g buzz
The beep beep beep
plug me in the wall so I can nourish
People treat their phones like babies,
they dress them in cute outfits,
they drop them,
give them scars,
pick them right back up and
start chatting away,
ignoring the rest of us
Why do people insist
On being in constant contact
With each other
Is there really
A need
To know
F**k updates
Notification
friend requests,
Friend Requests?
I don't even know you!
F**k you!
Put your f*****g phone down
And look at me,
Say something
Move your lips
Rest your thumbs
Press the OFF button
For once,
and just laugh with me,
and not 'out loud'

I really enjoyed this because it is just how reality is today! Why can't people send letters anymore or even e-mails? By the way, it's sickening to know how with cell phones, it allows us to type how we want (when texting) and it makes people seem so illiterate...like, they feel they have to abbreaviate nearly EVERY word they f*****g type. Like, is it so difficult to type out a simple word, much less a sentence nowadays? Wow, typing one word, SO MUCH WORK! But yeah, I miss the physical presence of people and sad how phones and technology have literally consumed people and we have drastically lost contact with the normal world. Plunging deeper into the robot and slowly becoming a follower.
