MidnightA Poem by ChadvonswanGo to sleep.. Jane started
her first night walks when she was three. She woke
drenched in sweat that was not hers. Why this
happened was a complete mystery. Always
oblivious to my whispers. She walked
out of bed in a trance, Crept to my
door like a dance. She pushed
my door slowly open To find me
uncomfortably awoken. She ran to
my side in frightened haste And
whispered her breath into my face, which had a
very disturbingly familiar taste, Of my dead
wife's underwear lace. I
immediately jumped back in nervous fear When she
pierced me with a scared adolescent stare. I asked her,
What’s wrong my dear? She pointed
to the bathroom and said, Mommy's in there. She took me
by the hand out of my room Completely
unconscious I did assume. I believed
Jane and I were both in a dream when under
the bathroom door came a cloud of steam. Jane looked
up at me with clouded eyes And they
told me to push open the door. The images I
saw were not those of lies They were
those of tremendous, crimson gore. © 2013 ChadvonswanAuthor's Note
