Burroughs and Cole

Burroughs and Cole

A Poem by Chad Halle

it's one thing

i regret; not

having my phone

that day. work was

relocated to the

leonardo house

for the

week,

and william s.

burroughs was

there. he sat

in his chair, letting

people know when

someone

was at

the door, and when

to answer the

telephone. a

couple days he

sat there with a water

pistol and a toothful

grin. i stayed

close by him

all week, waiting

for him to tell

me about the

man who taught

his a*****e how to

talk, but i was

never told. i did get

a photo of him one

day, but it

was thursday

when i forgot my

phone. and it

was thursday

when he was

sitting in a

chair with some

guessing game, softly

singin nat king

cole and lickin

his lips...

oh, how

a video

would have been

timeless,

but for now

memory

will have

to do.

i really like these stream of conscious poems. . . they really bring about a feeling of a loss of control. Here you didn't' have your phone .. you were disconnected I feel that this incident could mirror other happenings. Once again I enjoyed this especially the lines
" i stayed
close by him

for him to tell
me about the
man who taught
his a*****e how to
talk, but i was
never told. i did get

Incredible as always...why don't you get more reviews? That is a shame.
