Driving Home

Driving Home

A Poem by Chad Halle

As I was
driving home one night,
all I could see was what
was illuminated by
the headlights. Other than that
it was black, as if i were
driving in a black abyss- a
black hole if you may. All I wanted
to do was
to drive away
from the road and
into the darkness and drive
off to nowhere, but
the road kept on coming.
I never made it
into any abyss. I
made it home.

It is a rather decent description of setting a goal, setting off upon accomplishing that goal, and wanting to step off that path. It is a rather decent description of how many feel about life in general. It is a rather decent description of a drive home. A well crafted piece.

This is really deep and I have often felt the same way while driving alone at night in a woodsy area.
