The Shadow

I feel as if I'm decaying away into a deep sea of broken dreams and heart ache.

I've been in a place before, 

A very dark place.

A place I never wish upon anyone. 

For the past two years I've fought to be me again! 

I succeeded for a while but then something happened....

A glimpse of him showed in another

Which made me run. 

It's as if every time I get better,

 Start to open up, 

I see a glimpse of him that makes me ache and tremble in my own skin.

 Almost like a dark shadow engulfing me, into the great horrific unknown. 

A shadow few see, 

A shadow few know,

 And a shadow few escape from. 

I was the few,

  Yes I did get away...

Even though I did it still manages to sneak up on me, 

Breathing on the back of my neck, a thick smoggy breath.

 It whispers the past in my ear,

Grabs my heart and twists it,

 And it laughs at my pain the way he used to.

 Its eyes are bright which pull you in to trap you.

 The sound from its lips deceives you,

 Its touch makes you tremble, 

Its power makes you weak. 

It lurks on the innocent,

And feeds off their generosity.

 It's laugh sends shivers down my spine.

 The shadow will make you forget who you are,

 Also will make you second guess yourself. 

The shadow takes you 

Breaks you,

Without a blink of the eye,

Or care in the world.

 To a point where you don't know who you are anymore. 

The shadow is smart because he does not show his true identity to others.

 Nor does he allow you to either. 

The shadow is fake to others, 

But undeniably real to you.

If your not quick,

Or if your not smart, 

The shadow will not hesitate to wrap it's evil arms around you.

Once it does...

Well like I said before,

A shadow few see,

A shadow few know,

And a shadow few escape from.
