getting over that crush

"

 

sometimes she smiles
and i feel the butterflies bloom
taking flight inside my body
wings tickling my hands and feet
fluttering against eyelashes and reddening cheeks
 
and when the buzz has passed
it's time to realize
it's only a passing smile for friends
there's nothing more, no secret message
in her smooth rise if lips
for me, for us, for the chance of we
