We Used To

We Used To

A Poem by Tenten

We slept on couches
Because we didn’t have beds
We snuck into mommy’s room
Because daddy wasn’t there
We used to fight over blankets
Because the room got too cold
We used to argue over shower time
Because the water heater was so small
We used to play with faeries
Because dolls didn’t talk back
We used dance to wind songs
Because the music couldn’t match
We used to smile freely
Because the world seemed a wonderful place
We used to laugh at shooting stars
Because there was a belief wishes came true
We used to call reality a broken truck
Because it lead away from the backyard to parks
We used to be happy
Because things seemed simple, maybe they where
We used to speak freely
Because the rules hadn’t set in yet
We used to have faith
In more than stars, the moon, and clouds
We used to say I love you
Because there would always be answering words

My friend, this is you... this is totally YOU. What an expression.... thoroughly enjoyed this, sorry it took me so long to get to it.

I really enjoyed reading this!
You have skills.
I believe anyone can relate to this peice
which in my mind makes it that much better.
Good Job.

Too true. There seems to be that invisible line that we never see coming, which makes us incapable of seeing life their childlike eyes. I guess it's called growing up, but I call it losing faith in life. Truly great work here!

There's some good sentiment here.

It should be 'We Used To' though. Past tense.
