Missed Answer, Wounded Question

Missed Answer, Wounded Question

A Poem by Tenten

There was a brief moment
In our past
When you presented the question
'Why do you smoke?'
why do you kill yourself slowly?
And I smiled because
A second later your phone beeped
The dependable text message
To take the cares of reality
Concerning myself and you
Away from the forefront of thought
So I took my step away
Saving you from truth
Saving me from the pain
Of being instantly dismissed
Opened the window I never tried to break
And took another inhale
Letting out that smooth taste
Whispering to the stars
'You never heard me scream'
And stared into the light
Of the only true mother
That ever noticed I was dying
As you played another part
