You Lost Her

You Lost Her

A Poem by Tenten

Years ago you lost her
The moment you said
Your heart went to this new man
The moment you began
Avoiding the children born to you
Hiding us away
Like shameful secrets
In backrooms with old TV's
Letting the shadow
Of who we where
Be Known out of some good deed
To let him know
What he was diving into
The second you said
This man shall be father
When the first was only streets away
The first time your hand
Made contact with her face
You lost her
She gave up on you
Wondering should I have done the same
And saved us the pain
