Roles, The Rules

Roles, The Rules

A Poem by Tenten

You've got it in you
To speak the nasty truth
But roles of society...
The rules I mean
Say you got to be 'nice'
To all those liars and thieves
Those deplorable souls
Because we all deserve a smile
Your smile
On our bad day of life
So you learn to assimilate
Speak the harsh...mean truth
Behind closed doors
To stuffed animals and walls
Pick up lying on cue
To the old ladies at corner shops
Those young men near the lake
Because happy lies
Are more acceptable these days
Then you lose it
You ain't got it in you
To tell that painful reality
We are trying so desperately...
Hard to ignore
