They Are

They Are

A Poem by Tenten

They are forever lovers

They are forever together

They are sister, brother, mother and father

Beginning and end

                moon and sun

                                first and last

                sour and sweet

Young and old

They are me, you, them, we

Time; past present, future

They are simple and complicated

In knowing that as we move forward

Endless essence that they are

Stand still progressing nowhere

Observing in the same place

     they have always been

For centuries left wondering

Praised, forgotten, renewed, remembered.

They are gods and we here

Past simply more than existing

Less than being

They are, where, and more or less

We are barely and growing never passing

Trying with hopeful eyes to surpass
