Ring around the rosy

Ring around the rosy

A Story by Tenten

They sang and turned in that circle, all black and white swirls of fabric, smiles on their faces, yellow buds overflowing each breast pocket and apron. They sang of death, beckoned the bringer anew with each twist and twirl, with every giggled laugh, they demanded The End’s attention. He'd come soon, oh she knew that from where she sat all the way over here, the corner far off from them. Watching as they moved to the melody of the song she had sung, once upon time. Death would be comin' for them, her cataract eyes saw that and she carried on with her work. Deft hands forming the lace and cotton fabric lines that would be their glorious burial gowns. This had been her job for far too long, who knew maybe the song they sang was for her.
